Fr. Cataldo discussing details with Fr. Paschal Tosi about the Jesuits' expansion into Alaska. Two years earlier Fr. Tosi had been among the first party of Catholic clerics to venture there with an intention of establishing a permanent mission. That effort had ended tragically with the murder of party leader, Abp. Charles Seghers.
