The Jubilee celebrations in Spokane began on Monday, March 12, with a Spokesman Review interview. The Chamber of Commerce hosted a noon luncheon the next day at the elegant Davenport Hotel in his honor (see photo). On Wednesday evening Gonzaga students presented a program in the school auditorium. Thursday was a very full day, with a High Mass at St. Aloysius Church in the morning, a noon banquet for the clergy of the city served by the ladies of the parish, an evening banquet at the Davenport, followed by a civic reception at the American Theater, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Nearly 1,500 attendees were reported. The concluding event was a mass on Saturday, March 17, commemorating Fr. Cataldo's 91st birthday.
