Planning for the Jubilee began in late 1927, with Fr. George Weibel's efforts to leverage it into a national fundraising campaign through the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions. Members of St. Stanislaus Church, Lewiston, wanted to honor Fr. Cataldo first, since he had founded their parish before Gonzaga. All ceremonies there were held on February 20, 1928, starting with a High Mass in the morning, a student pageant featuring "Joan of Arc" in the afternoon, and ending with a formal evening banquet at the Lewis Clark Hotel.
